Coffee Fest Seattle & Imbibe Magazine

Well we loaded up the van for Coffee Fest tonight. Easy load ever... Hope we got everything packed. Set up is tomorrow morning and then some Clover training. I'm really looking forward to that.

So congrats to Imbibe Magazine and Karen Foley. Tonight I found a great video interview from TasteTV with Karen. I'll post the video below for those who are interested. If you don't know what Imbibe Magazine I highly reccomend subscribing. The magazine is gorgeous, well printed, well designed, perfect stories and articles all about drink/beverage culture. Come this holidays the folks on my list will be getting subscriptions.

Belated Friday Night BGA Party Post

Blame it on me, my lack of time or better yet the poor internet connection at the Holiday Inn, but here is my late BGA / Albina Press Party entry.

in my four years of working with Espresso Parts I've been privileged enough to attend some great "Coffee Parties" surrounding trade shows, competitions and events. One of the best (if not THE BEST) parties I've been to was the Barista Guild party last night at The Albina Press. The highlight being an unheard of (at least by me) total of 8 espresso grinders surrounded Albina's PID'd Linea, hoppers filled with some of the choicest selections of espresso available. I know I'll miss a couple but some of the roasters featured were:
Stumptown
Intelligentsia
Ecco Cafe
Batdorf & Bronson
Counter Culture (Murky Blend)
Olympia Coffee Roasting Co.
Paradise Roasters
Caffe Vita

There were a few more but since there was also some of Oregon's Widmer beer in attendance I am unable to recall the remaining couple. Drop us a line if you were there and you can remember the few I didn't.

Anyway hats off to the folks who put this all on. Quite an event, it was a terrific showing of the quality of some of the coffee (the out of region coffees were great TOO) wand folks the Northwest has to offer. For those not jealous because you weren't there... You should be! ;)

I've got quite a few photos uploaded to my Flickr feed from the weekend so far, and there is still more to come. Feel free to check it all out. http://www.flickr.com/photos/old_timey_dave/sets/72157594337231951/

That's me with the cheesy smile, talkin with Sam of Olympia Coffee and Michael Elvin of Batdorf. These boys rocked the FB/80 most of the day. Man, this is Third Wave in Action.

Northwest Regional Barista Championships in Portland Oregon

More story.....

So last night The Albina Press (Billy Wilson and Kevin Fuller) had a nice party. Nine grinders were featured with some of the best coffees around. Ecco Caffe, Intelligensia, Stumptown, Mutiny Roasters, and more........... Very Cool. Props to the Press!

Espresso Caviar?

Ok, So I said I wouldn't give away to much before finals, but Billy Wilson's sig drink included espresso caviar that he made on the spot in front of the judges. Billy has come so far in these competitions! Hat's off to Billy for his creativity and contributions to the trade.

More NWRBC

And were back....Live from PDX, where the Northwest regional Barista Competion is taking place! The venue is the Wonder Ballroom in NE PDX. This is a great room for the event and the folks who run the place are the best.

Todays competitors have been excellent. Kevin Fuller of the Albina Press did some serious work on the stage and the others have been fantastic as well. We will provide etailed info at the end of each day, with the final results on Sunday.

We are making sure not to post to much info, due to security leaks and well, the whole Home Land Security thing. Needless to say we are chillin with the best of the best here in Portland.

Jennifer from Olympia Coffee hits the stage at noon Saturday! Espresso Parts is happy to sponsor Jennifer as well as the entire event as a Bronze sponsor.

Great Portland Espresso Article!

There is a first class article on Portland's espresso scene that has just been published in the Willamette Week Online News. Its a really great read, well written and full of great info on the influential folks in that area, many of them our good friends and customers. Chris, Billy, Kyle, Duane & Stumptown, Tony, Intelligentsia, Roast, Imbibe, Fresh Cup, Sarah & Barista Magazine and the rest.... Congrats you guys all deserve a lot more good press for your excellent work.

EspressoParts solutes the terrific individuals that are our neighbors to the South in P-Town, and big kudos to the Willamette Weekly for writing a great story!!! We wish "The Olympian" had as much talent and integrity.

Oly to Seatown in 2!

Okay... Not espresso related. But it might as well be. ;) Anyone who has driven that very long 60 mile drive from Oly to Seattle will appreciate this. 2 Minutes! Can you beat that? Great tunes too.
