SCAA Long Beach Anyone?
Sorry about the lack of posts folks. We've had an intensely busy month and a half.We hosted and sponsored a NW Roaster's Group Meet. In fact I have a few posters left if anyone want one contact me and we'll work out the postage. Other than postage it is yours for free.
The week after that we attended/exhibited a Food Service Show in Portland. We had a great time in Portland in between the show hours. The most spontaneous and random gathering of coffee folks I've ever experienced happed when I took Terry and crew to the Horse Brass Pub which apparently is a coffee professional mecca at night. We ended up running into all kinds of Portland coffee friends. Sarah from Barista Magazine and Kyle Larson from Stumptown walked in while we were there. Then a whole slew of Stumptown folks showed, Steven Vic, Jen Prince and a ton of others. We did end up calling Matt Milletto from ABC and his fiancé Kylene and they too came on down. What a town Portland is! Fun Fun Fun. We also got to see the new Stumptown at the recently revamped Ace Hotel drop by Albina and Fresh Pot. Great espresso and coffee at every stop. Oh and at the Ace Stumptown we ran into Wes and Christine from Espresso Arts. They got a great espresso catering gig going and doing it with class and style it looks like.
After a weekend off we attended/exhibited at the NW Barista Jam in Bellingham and had yet another great weekend of work/fun in another great coffee town. B-ham has some great folks living there. The Black Drop Coffeehouse crew, Moka Joe's, Edwin Martinez from Finca Vista Hermosa and a ton of other including an old college roommate of mine. What up Aaron! Thanks for the Boundary Bay beers they were great.
Now after all of that we find it is indeed time for SCAA show once again. This has to be my favorite show every year. I personally can't wait, all the great people of coffee gathered up from all over the country and the world even in one place for one giant weekend of work, geekin' and partyin'. We'll be in booth 262, right across from La Marzocco so come on by and say hi.
USBC Coverage... We'll do our best to keep those of you informed about USBC results with pictures and news. Good luck to all baristas participating. This may be the best year of competition yet. Check my Flickr feed as I am due a new camera before I go and know I'll be keeping that as up to the minute as possible.
